Measuring up for your handrails is a very simple process, whether it be for a front doorstep rail or a fancy balustrade. The first thing to decide is how you want it to be fixed into position, this means either free standing or wall mounted.
If you are after a handrail to help you down a front doorstep and you have a suitable wall next to the door frame for mounting the top bracket on, then this is the best place for us to fix it. We call this wall-mounted – see the blue handrail in the diagram on the left. If you’re measuring up for a balustrade or wrought iron style handrail we have five different design options for our wall fixings, find the options on the product pages.
The next phase is to measure your steps; simply measure the rise and tread of each step (not including overhang). This will be all we need to make your handrail along with the fixing type of your choice and your desired style/design- please refer to the pictures on our product pages for reference numbers of design, if you are choosing an existing one or provide us with a sketch of your own bespoke design via email or post.
